Boy, 16, falls to his death while taking photos from cell tower at NYC park with skyline views
A teenage boy described by his family as lively and full of personality died Friday after falling from a cell tower in a Brooklyn park while apparently taking photos for social media.
Police said 16-year-old Timithee Englund, a sophomore at Manhattan Village Academy High School, fell from the top of the tower at Bushwick Intel Park near North 10th Street and Kent Avenue at about 1:15 p.m.
Officers arrived after a 911 call reported the fall. The teen was taken in critical condition to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Timithee’s parents, Tobias and Yvette Englund, spoke about their son Friday night, remembering him as a kind and energetic teenager who enjoyed sports and working out.
“He was amazing, he was loving,” said Yvette, 52.
His father, Tobias, 57, said his son had a playful sense of humor and liked joking around with him. “We cracked a bunch of jokes together,” he said, describing Timithee as goofy and funny.
The teen spent much of his free time playing soccer and basketball and had plans to join the wrestling team when the fall season began.

His parents said they are still unsure what exactly led to the accident. Looking through photos their son had taken has brought them some comfort as they try to understand what happened.
“He fell off a tower at the park,” Tobias said. “That’s all that we know.”
Sources said the fall occurred while Timithee was taking pictures for social media. It remains unclear who may have been with him at the time or who placed the 911 call.
The cell tower, which appears to be unused, sits behind a fence, though the barrier does little to keep people out.

Hours after the fatal incident, three young people were seen slipping underneath the fence to enter the area. One of them said they frequently went inside the fenced-off space before leaving after learning about the deadly fall.
