Ashley St. Clair, an online influencer and the mother of one of Elon Musk’s children, recently posted a photo on Instagram that drew criticism online. In the post, St. Clair was wearing a T-shirt that read “Eat the Rich.”
The image prompted backlash from some social media users who pointed out that St. Clair has reportedly received significant financial support from Musk. Reports indicate she has received about $2.5 million from the billionaire and continues to receive approximately $500,000 per year. The two are reportedly involved in a legal dispute regarding child support payments for their child, Romulus.
St. Clair has claimed that Musk reduced her payments by roughly 60 percent, which she described as punishment for “misbehaving.”
Musk addressed the situation publicly on X, writing that he is uncertain whether the child is his but is open to finding out and does not believe a court order is necessary. He also stated that despite the uncertainty, he has already given St. Clair $2.5 million and continues to send her $500,000 per year.
The Instagram post sparked criticism from some users online. One user wrote that St. Clair wearing an “Eat the Rich” shirt while receiving millions from Musk was ironic, arguing that such financial support places her among the wealthy she appeared to be criticizing.
In March 2025, St. Clair spoke with reporters from the Daily Mail outside her Manhattan residence while handing over the keys to a Tesla reportedly worth around $100,000 to a salesperson. She said she was selling the vehicle to offset what she described as Musk’s reductions in child support payments.
Separately, Musk’s partner Shivon Zilis announced in February 2025 that the couple had welcomed their fourth child together. Their son, Seldon Lycurgus, is Musk’s 14th child.
In January 2026, Musk said he was seeking full custody of his son with St. Clair, citing concerns about statements she had made regarding gender identity. He raised the issue after St. Clair apologized for previous remarks that criticized transgender ideology.
