Belief is especially common among Christian groups, while it is much less common among people who are religiously unaffiliated. In that group, about 37% say they believe in heaven, including about half of those who say their religion is “nothing in particular,” 26% of agnostics, and 3% of atheists. The survey also found that belief in hell is somewhat less common overall, with about 62% of U.S. adults saying they believe it exists.
