A 2021 survey by the Pew Research Center found that nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults say they believe in heaven. Belief is especially common among Christian groups, while it is much less common among people who are religiously unaffiliated. In that group, about 37% say they believe in heaven, including about half of those who say their religion is “nothing in particular,” 26% of agnostics, and 3% of atheists. The survey also found that belief in hell is somewhat less common overall, with about 62% of U.S. adults saying they believe it exists.
