Resurfaced ‘Today’ show footage with Nancy Guthrie provides glimpse inside her Tucson home

A “Today” show segment from more than ten years ago resurfaced Wednesday, offering an uncommon look inside the Tucson home of Nancy Guthrie, the missing matriarch.

The footage, originally aired in 2013, captured Nancy, then 71, walking her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, and her colleagues through her early-morning bed-making routine at 3 a.m. MST in her $1 million suburban residence.

“Well, everyone should know how to make a bed,” Nancy said with her trademark warmth. “When it was time to teach Savannah and her siblings, this is what I showed them.” Her hosts chuckled at Savannah’s admitted chaotic approach to mornings.

Under some playful teasing, Savannah admitted she usually skips making her bed entirely. Nancy reflected on her children’s reactions: “All three of the kids thought bed-making was completely pointless.”

Natalie Morales, a former “Today” co-host, quipped that Nancy’s sheets were tucked so tightly that “you could bounce a quarter off of it.” Nancy responded with humor: “Natalie, don’t test me — it’s way too early.”

Although Nancy had already completed her bed that morning, she enthusiastically demonstrated her method, timing her movements to a lively military-style tune. Back at the “Today” studio in Rockefeller Center, Savannah and her co-hosts attempted to replicate her technique.

Al Roker and Morales followed Nancy’s instructions closely, while Savannah assisted with the final touches. Nancy appeared satisfied with the results, signing off with a laugh. Savannah encouraged her mother to rest, teasing, “I’ll teach you a skill — it’s called ‘napping’ at these hours.”

Nancy, now 84, has lived in the same Tucson home since the 1970s. Authorities believe she was abducted from the property during the early morning of February 1.

Megyn Kelly, who shared the footage Wednesday, suggested Nancy’s bedroom may look much the same today as it did in 2013. The room, predominantly beige, featured accents of red and blue on the throw pillows. A flatscreen TV rested on a small bookshelf, and a simple lamp and flower display sat on her bedside table near a window.

Kelly, who left NBC in 2018, noted, “You can see her bedroom pretty much as it was, and she still lives in that house.” Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has now entered its fifth week.
