CNN data analyst Harry Enten reported that while Americans overall remain divided over Operation Epic Fury, veterans show strong support for the Trump administration’s military actions in the Middle East.

Enten pointed to a recent Fox News poll examining approval of the U.S. military operation targeting Iran. According to the poll, the country as a whole is split on the action.

“Take a look at this Fox News poll from the past week,” Enten said. “The net approval rating of the current U.S. military action against Iran is evenly divided overall.”

However, the numbers look very different among those who have served in the military.

“When you focus on Americans who served in the military, support for the military action is significantly higher,” Enten explained. “It’s about plus 20 points.”

Enten said that difference likely reflects broader approval of President Donald Trump’s foreign policy among veterans.

“When you look at Trump’s foreign policy overall, veterans tend to view it positively,” he said. “Among those who served in the military, the net approval rating is about plus eight points.”

That contrasts sharply with the general population, where views of the president’s foreign policy are far more negative.

“Among Americans overall, the net approval rating is around minus 20 points,” Enten said. “That’s nearly a 30-point gap between those who served in the military and the country overall.”

Enten also noted that veterans have been a consistently strong base of support for President Trump dating back to his first presidential campaign in 2016. He argued that this support continued to play a major role in the 2024 election.

Looking at the election results, Enten highlighted the stark difference in voting patterns between veterans and other voters.

“Among those who served in the military, Trump won by 31 points,” he said. “Kamala Harris actually won voters who did not serve by about two points.”

According to Enten, that difference proved decisive in the election outcome.

“That means Donald Trump’s victory in 2024 was driven largely by strong support from those who served in the military,” he said.

The discussion comes as many political commentators, Democratic leaders, and segments of the mainstream media have criticized Operation Epic Fury, warning it could turn into another prolonged conflict similar to past “forever wars.” Critics argue such conflicts risk costing American lives and billions of dollars without clear benefits.

However, the strong backing from veterans highlighted in the polling data complicates that narrative and suggests the operation has significant support among those with military experience.
