WATCH: Terrifying moment girl attacked by lion while feeding animal at the zoo
A 10-year-old girl was attacked by two lions at Shantou Zhongshan Park Zoo in Guangdong, China, after being allowed into a restricted area to feed the animals.
The girl was seen standing right against the bars of the lion enclosure on Thursday when a lioness suddenly reached through and grabbed her leg. She screamed as a zookeeper tried to pull her away, while another lion also attempted to reach her.

After about 30 seconds, a staff member used a metal rod to pry the lioness’s paw away, finally freeing the girl. Authorities say the girl should not have been in the feeding area, and the staffer who brought her there has been suspended, according to Jam Press.
Zoo officials believe the lioness was provoked by meat in the girl’s hand. She was hospitalized with minor leg injuries and received a rabies vaccination before being discharged.
The zoo, which is known for interactive feeding sessions, has temporarily closed following the incident.
