A fire was contained Tuesday night after a suspected Iranian drone struck the parking lot of the U.S. Consulate in Dubai, officials said. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said all American diplomatic personnel were accounted for, according to the Wall Street Journal. Video circulating online showed black smoke rising near the consulate compound.
“Dubai authorities have confirmed that a fire resulting from a drone-related incident near the U.S. Consulate has been successfully contained,” Dubai’s media office said in a statement. “Emergency teams responded immediately. No injuries have been reported.”
State media in Iran reported that a drone had struck the consulate, according to the New York Times. The incident occurred as Iran continued launching attacks against targets in the United Arab Emirates and against American interests elsewhere in the region, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Earlier Tuesday, drones struck American embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Meanwhile, Israel said it carried out strikes on Iranian missile launchers and a nuclear facility, according to the Associated Press.
