A Wisconsin woman is facing homicide charges after authorities say she shot and killed a man during an argument over delivered food.

According to court records reviewed by Law&Crime, 41-year-old Bonnie Blackwell has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She was booked into the Milwaukee County Jail on Thursday.

Prosecutors allege that Blackwell killed 63-year-old Charley Collins, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WITI. The incident occurred around midnight on Feb. 21 at a residence near the 2900 block of North 22nd Street in Milwaukee.

A witness told investigators that Collins had stepped outside to retrieve food from a delivery driver. When he returned inside, he reportedly encountered Blackwell, and the two began arguing. According to the complaint, Blackwell said she heard Collins claiming that “somebody stole his chicken.” She stated that when she looked outside, she saw a Dr Pepper on the porch but no chicken.

Blackwell told investigators that Collins then approached her in the hallway while calling her names. She said she backed up and that the gun discharged. Although she allegedly told police she did not remember pulling the trigger, authorities said she admitted to shooting Collins in the back as he was walking away.

Officers with the Milwaukee Police Department responded to the scene. Despite efforts to save Collins, he was pronounced dead at the residence, WITI reported. Investigators said they recovered a fired bullet near the victim’s feet and a spent casing in a hallway.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Blackwell made phone calls from jail. In one call placed the day of the shooting, she allegedly stated, “I just shot somebody last night, and I think I killed him — I am going to be on the run,” according to the television station.

Blackwell has been arrested and remains in custody. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance on Saturday.
