Baby’s got back! Meet the groomer behind the Brazilian Butt craze – for pooches

A San Diego dog groomer is turning heads online with a sculpted grooming style that gives dogs a rounded, “booty-boosted” look—an effect inspired by the human cosmetic trend known as a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

Groomer Logan Rago offers the cheek-shaping cut at his two salons, carving and fluffing fur to create a fuller silhouette at the rear. Unlike the surgical procedure it playfully references, the canine version involves only trimming and styling hair.

Rago, who began grooming at age 14, told California Post that he has performed roughly 50 of these doggy “BBLs.” His social-media posts—shared across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram—have drawn millions of views and a mix of reactions. One viral clip racked up about 650,000 likes, with commenters split between amusement and disbelief.

Rago acknowledges the look is “controversial,” but says the dogs enjoy the attention. “We give them a cute haircut, they walk outside, and people stop to admire them,” he said. “As long as the dog is comfortable and happy, the negative comments don’t matter.”

The idea began with his own poodle, Raikou, whose wagging backside inspired the experiment. After refining the technique on his pet, Rago tried it on a fluffy Pomeranian and shared the result online. Demand quickly followed: “When the video first went viral, I had clients asking for one almost every day,” he said.

Many customers travel from Los Angeles for the distinctive groom. Rago believes the trend’s popularity reflects Southern California’s broader fascination with aesthetic enhancements. In one video, he even jokingly dubbed his own dog a “black Kim Kardashian.”

He says the style appeals especially to owners who treat pets like children—often arriving with dogs in strollers and requesting internet-famous looks, including the “BBL” or simply “butt cheeks.” Prices start around $225 for small dogs, increasing with size.

The sculpted rear isn’t the only unusual request Rago receives. Clients have asked for cuts resembling giraffes or pandas, Valentine-themed designs, and even festive transformations with dyed fur—pink, rainbow, or styled as Christmas elves.
