BREAKING: President Trump Defies ‘Anti-American’ Supreme Court, Raises Global Tariffs to 15% Effective Immediately
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that his administration will immediately raise global tariffs from 10% to 15%, responding sharply to a recent ruling by the United States Supreme Court that invalidated his earlier emergency tariff action.
In a statement, Trump said he is exercising his full presidential authority to implement the higher tariff rate worldwide. He argued that many countries have taken advantage of the United States economically for decades and said his administration intends to correct those imbalances.
“Based on a thorough, detailed, and complete review of the ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American decision on tariffs issued yesterday … I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% worldwide tariff on countries … to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He added that over the coming months his administration will determine and issue additional tariffs it considers legally permissible, saying the measures will continue what he described as a successful effort to strengthen the U.S. economy.

The new rate represents a five-percentage-point increase from the 10% global tariff Trump said he signed the previous evening from the Oval Office.
On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled 6–3 that the president lacked authority under the specific emergency powers statute cited to impose the earlier tariffs. Trump reacted by criticizing members of the Court, including two justices he appointed, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, saying they sided against him. He contrasted them with Chief Justice John Roberts, whom he noted he did not appoint.
Trump wrote:
“What happened today with the two United States Supreme Court Justices that I appointed against great opposition, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, whether people like it or not, never seems to happen with Democrats. They vote against the Republicans, and never against themselves, almost every single time, no matter how good a case we have. At least I didn’t appoint Roberts, who led the effort to allow Foreign Countries that have been ripping us off for years to continue to do so — But we won’t let it happen. The new TARIFFS, totally tested and accepted as Law, are on their way! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Trump concluded his statement by asserting that new tariffs he described as legally sound are forthcoming.
