After previously saying she planned to leave the United States following President Trump’s election victory, Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly returned and purchased a new home in California.

According to Fox News, the former talk show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, recently bought a $27 million estate in Montecito, a community where they have owned property in the past.

Just over a year ago, DeGeneres and de Rossi relocated to the Cotswolds in England. At the time, DeGeneres spoke positively about the move, praising the scenery, architecture, and lifestyle in the United Kingdom. She described the area as “absolutely beautiful” and said she appreciated what she viewed as a simpler way of life.

DeGeneres had previously referenced the political climate and President Trump’s victory as part of the reason for leaving the U.S., noting that many of her friends were upset by the election results.

However, reports indicate that the couple has now purchased a home back in Southern California. A source told Fox News Digital that the move may only be temporary, saying DeGeneres and de Rossi plan to spend the winter in Montecito before returning to England.

Another source told People magazine that the couple has missed aspects of California life, including the weather and the local equestrian scene. De Rossi is known for her interest in horses and polo.

Residents in the Cotswolds told People they have not seen DeGeneres in the area recently, though she had been spotted there more frequently earlier in the year.

While it remains unclear how long they plan to stay in California, the purchase signals at least a temporary return after their highly publicized move abroad.
