Comedian Kathy Griffin recently posted a video on social media encouraging her followers to make lists of neighbors who support President Donald Trump, prompting criticism for promoting harassment. In the video, Griffin read an accusation that she had been encouraging her fans to identify “MAGA neighbors” for liberal communities to shun and harass—and she confirmed that the claim was accurate.

“Yeah, that’s right,” Griffin said in the video, later commenting that immigration agents were “infiltrating liberal groups” and exposing what she described as anti-government networks.

She added, “I’m going to get to know my neighbors better, and yes, I have to know who’s MAGA and who isn’t because it’s two teams now. You’re either with all these deportations, this violence, this murder, and this bizarre government agency that’s only been around since 2003, or you’re not.” Griffin also suggested that Democrats in Congress should not be overly blamed because “they are in the minority.”

Griffin also criticized First Lady Melania Trump in the video, in connection with the new biopic Melania. She referred to the first lady as “Melanie” and questioned her public image. Griffin claimed that Melania Trump is complicit with pro-Russian policies and criticized portrayals of her as a “classy” first lady, citing nude photos and other depictions.

Griffin has a history of controversial statements targeting political figures. In 2017, she sparked outrage after posting a photograph holding a fake, bloodied decapitated head resembling President Trump. The incident led to public backlash, canceled comedy bookings, and her removal from CNN’s New Year’s Eve special. She later apologized, saying she had “crossed the line.”

In recent months, Griffin has made several incendiary claims about President Trump and his administration, including false allegations of election rigging, creating “internment camps,” and promoting authoritarianism. She has also described the United States as “racist and sexist” and questioned whether it is prudent for people to have children.

Griffin has publicly acknowledged struggling with mental health challenges, describing aspects of her life as a “shitshow.”
