New twist in Kiefer Sutherland’s alleged Uber driver
Kiefer Sutherland could still face charges after the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office sent his alleged Uber driver assault case back to the LAPD for further investigation, a source told The California Post on Monday.
Sutherland was arrested on January 14 after allegedly threatening an Uber driver who refused to pull over and let him out, TMZ reported.
According to the report, Sutherland, 59, called for an Uber Black following dinner with a friend on the evening of January 11 and asked the driver to take him home. At some point during the ride, Sutherland reportedly demanded that the driver stop the car so he could exit and allegedly threatened to kill him when the driver did not comply.
The driver called 911 around 12:15 a.m., reporting that Sutherland had assaulted him near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Officers at the scene determined that Sutherland had made criminal threats and physically assaulted the driver. The driver did not require medical treatment.

A language barrier may have contributed to the dispute. The driver, who reportedly spoke Russian or Armenian, requested a translator when officers arrived, prompting the LAPD to bring in a translator, TMZ reported.
Sutherland was arrested on felony charges of making a criminal threat and released on $50,000 bail. The British-born Canadian actor is best known for his role as Jack Bauer on Fox’s 24, which earned him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. His film credits include Stand by Me, Flatliners, and A Few Good Men.
