SoCal stripper accused of decapitating her boyfriend captured in Mexico

A California woman accused of decapitating her boyfriend has been extradited from Mexico and is back in Southern California to face murder charges.

Alyssa Marie Lira, 23, returned to the U.S. nearly five months after authorities say she killed 55-year-old Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal. Gonzalez-Carbajal’s body was found inside Lira’s Anaheim home.

Homicide detectives had identified Lira as their main suspect and determined she had fled to Mexico.

The couple had been dating for about two months and met while Lira was working as an exotic dancer at a local strip club, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said. Anaheim police worked with the FBI and Mexican authorities to locate and arrest her.

Lira was taken into custody on January 22 and handed over to Anaheim homicide detectives the next day at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

Police tape stretched across the entrance of a house, where an officer stands guard.

Lira is seen in a mug shot from a prior arrest in 2021 felony possession of a firearm and multiple charges of controlled substance for sale.

She now faces one count of murder with a felony weapon enhancement. If convicted on all charges, she could receive a sentence ranging from 26 years to life in prison.

Lira is scheduled to be arraigned on February 13 and is being held at the Orange County Jail without bail.

“Nothing — not time, distance, nor foreign borders — will stop our pursuit of justice,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said. “Law enforcement will continue to go to the ends of the Earth to hold criminals accountable for the heinous acts they commit.”

Spitzer added that the investigation and extradition demonstrate the dedication of Anaheim police, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and federal and international partners in bringing a suspected killer back to the United States to face justice.
