Ilhan Omar Blames President Trump For Liquid ‘Attack’ in Unhinged Rant (VIDEO)
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar on Wednesday evening blamed President Trump for an incident in which she was sprayed with apple cider vinegar during a town hall event.
The incident occurred Tuesday night when a man identified as 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak rushed toward the podium as Omar was speaking and sprayed her with the liquid. He was quickly taken into custody.
Moments before the incident, Omar had criticized Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, calling for her resignation or impeachment. The disruption drew gasps from the audience, followed by Omar continuing her remarks while condemning the attacker.
Omar later claimed that President Trump’s rhetoric has contributed to an atmosphere of intimidation and held him responsible for the attack. She said she now requires increased security, which she attributed to Trump’s focus on her.
President Trump, when asked about the incident, dismissed the claim that he played any role and suggested the event may have been staged. Speaking to ABC News, Trump said he does not think about Omar and accused her of dishonesty.
Omar pushed back on those comments, stating that Trump had mentioned her publicly shortly before the attack and then denied any awareness of her when questioned afterward. She argued that the contradiction underscores what she described as his fixation on her.
The incident remains under investigation.
