Video shows White man targeting black woman in Walmart, police confirm arrest
Racist Harassment at Pennsylvania Walmart Under State and Federal Investigation
A racially motivated harassment incident at a Pennsylvania Walmart has triggered a multi-agency criminal investigation after a video showing a white man verbally attacking a Black immigrant woman went viral online.
Authorities confirmed that within 48 hours of the video’s circulation, the Roastraver Township Police Department transferred the case to the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The FBI and the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office have also been notified and are now involved in reviewing the matter.
The victim, Augusta “Queenie” Goll, a Liberian immigrant and local business owner in Charleroi, was shopping at the Walmart when the man approached her while recording on his phone. Without her consent, he addressed her by name, questioned her finances, and made repeated racist remarks, including the use of racial slurs.
According to Goll, the encounter was unexpected and immediately distressing. “He just walked up to me and said, ‘Hey, excuse me, you Queen?’ and then started asking me where I had money to buy a $500,000 house,” she said. The situation escalated quickly when the man began using racial epithets.
Video of the encounter shows Goll visibly shaken as she demands that the man leave her alone. She is seen warning other shoppers and calling for store security.
Goll later revealed that the same man came to her grocery store after the incident and left an apology letter. She believes the harassment was motivated by resentment toward her success as an immigrant business owner.
“He hates the way I’m doing things — opening a business, trying to buy a home — but he forgets that everything I do helps the city,” she said.
Investigators have since learned that the man had recorded similar confrontations with other immigrants and posted them online, suggesting a pattern of targeted harassment.
Despite the trauma, Goll has stated she does not seek revenge. “I believe in forgiveness,” she said. “But this is no longer in my hands. The damage has already been done.”
The Pennsylvania State Police confirmed in a statement that the investigation remains active and that multiple interviews are underway as authorities determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
Law enforcement officials have not released the suspect’s name but emphasized that the case is being treated as a potentially serious hate-based offense.
“This incident is being taken very seriously,” the state police said. “All available evidence is being reviewed.”
