LEWISTON, Maine — Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant Friday at the Mogadishu Store, also known as The Little Mogadishu Store, located at 240 Lisbon Street, as part of an ongoing fraud investigation.
Witnesses reported seeing two blacked-out sedans parked outside the business while authorities conducted the search inside. The presence of law enforcement drew attention along the busy Lisbon Street area during the operation.
According to information confirmed by The Maine Wire, the search is connected to a broader investigation involving an alleged $4.5 million fraud scheme. Officials have not publicly disclosed details about the nature of the suspected fraud, nor have they announced whether any arrests were made.
Later Friday, the Lewiston Police Department confirmed it had executed the search warrant as part of what it described as a lengthy fraud investigation. Police said the operation was conducted with assistance from the Department of Agriculture and emphasized that the enforcement action was not related to immigration enforcement. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details regarding potential charges have been released.
