A Florida woman is accused of shooting another woman early Saturday after the victim went to her home looking for her boyfriend, according to police.

Jahniya Meda, 25, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting, which occurred at her residence in the 3000 block of Northwest 184th Street in Miami Gardens.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim went to Meda’s home knowing her boyfriend was inside. She knocked on the door and asked for him to come outside. Police say that as the victim walked away from the front door toward a side gate, Meda stepped onto the porch and fired two shots in her direction while telling her to leave the property. The victim was struck in the buttocks and back area.

Investigators say the incident was captured on a Ring doorbell camera. The victim’s boyfriend is seen fleeing the scene in a Mercedes-Benz immediately after the shots were fired. Police later located him, and he admitted he had been inside Meda’s home and bedroom when the victim arrived.

The boyfriend told officers he did not answer the door because it was not his residence. He said Meda went to the door, and shortly afterward he heard gunshots.

Meda was taken into custody and questioned by detectives. She told police the victim arrived around 9:50 a.m., began banging on the door, and shouted threats at her. Meda also said she recognized the woman from a prior incident involving the same boyfriend.

The victim was later found parked at a nearby park and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Meda remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was being held without bond as of Monday.
