A GoFundMe campaign created to support the wife and young son of Renee Nicole Good has raised nearly $600,000 in less than 24 hours.

Good was fatally shot Wednesday during an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Good repeatedly used her vehicle to obstruct ICE operations throughout the day. Authorities say the situation escalated when she accelerated her car toward a federal agent, prompting the officer to fire in self-defense.

DHS stated that Good attempted to “weaponize” her vehicle by trying to ram agents. One officer fired three defensive shots, saying he feared for his life and the safety of others.

The fundraiser, organized by Mattie Weiss and titled “Support for Renee Good’s Wife and Son,” is intended to help Good’s wife and their six-year-old son following what the campaign describes as a “devastating loss.” The page describes Good as “pure sunshine, pure love,” and says she will be “desperately missed.” Nearly 15,000 people donated within the first 15 hours.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem characterized Good’s actions as an act of “domestic terrorism” and defended the agent’s response as justified. The incident has drawn national attention during the Trump administration’s ongoing enforcement efforts related to immigration.

The shooting sparked large protests in Minneapolis and other cities. In a video recorded at the scene, a woman identifying herself as Good’s wife claimed she had pressured Good to attend the protest.

“I made her come down here; it’s my fault. They just shot my wife,” the woman says in the footage.

According to the Star Tribune, Good had previously been married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023 at age 36. Macklin’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., said he was shocked to learn of Good’s death and noted that she and his son shared a child who is now six years old.

“There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin said. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
