Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is effectively engaged in a state of war with the United States, Israel, and Europe, accusing Western powers of working together to undermine his country on several fronts.

“We are in a full-scale war with America, Israel, and Europe. They do not want our country to stand on its own,” Pezeshkian said in an interview published Saturday on the website of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Politico.

His remarks come amid months of escalating tensions, including U.S. airstrikes ordered by President Trump in June that targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities.

Pezeshkian described the current confrontation as more complex and challenging than Iran’s 1980–1988 war with Iraq, which resulted in more than one million casualties on both sides, according to the Associated Press. He linked today’s pressure to renewed U.S. sanctions imposed after President Trump returned to office in January.

According to Pezeshkian, the United States and its allies are applying coordinated economic and diplomatic pressure on Iran. “They are besieging us from every aspect,” he said, citing economic, cultural, political, and security challenges. He added that Iran must respond by strengthening internal unity and mobilizing all available resources to confront the situation.
