President Trump spoke Friday morning about U.S. airstrikes targeting suspected ISIS militants in northwestern Nigeria during an interview with WABC radio host John Catsimatidis.
Trump said the strikes were carried out on Christmas Day, describing them as a deliberate response to ISIS activity in the region. He said the group was hit in multiple locations and characterized the operation as a significant blow against the militants.

Nigeria’s government confirmed overnight that it worked with the United States on the strikes, which took place in Sokoto state near the border with Niger. Officials did not immediately specify how many sites were targeted.

U.S. Africa Command said its initial assessment indicates that multiple ISIS fighters were killed, though an exact number has not yet been released.
