Democrat Mayor Says City Residents Might Kill ICE Agents Who Enforce the Law in His City

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey warned Tuesday that heightened Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the city could lead to serious violence, expressing concern for both federal agents and local residents.
“I am increasingly concerned because of the chaos that is being caused by these ICE agents,” Frey said. “Somebody is going to get seriously injured or killed, whether that be an ICE agent or a community member. We all know the tinderbox that could explode because of it.”
Frey emphasized the risk faced by residents who may attempt to intervene during enforcement actions. “We cannot afford to lose a single Minneapolis resident because they showed up and decided to protect their neighbors,” he said.

Standing behind Frey during the remarks was Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, whom the mayor said shared those concerns.
Walz criticized President Trump’s immigration policies, arguing that the administration’s push for mass deportations is politically motivated. “I think it’s pretty clear to all of us what this president is doing,” Walz said. “He’s targeting states and communities that he has a national political fight against and that he doesn’t agree with. It’s a distraction from his own personal issues that are under investigation while he’s harassing others.”
