Death Certificate Lists Michele Reiner as ‘Widowed’

Rob and Michele Reiner died within minutes of a violent attack at their Los Angeles home, according to newly released death certificates. The documents, obtained by People, report that the 78-year-old filmmaker and his wife, a 70-year-old activist and photographer, died on Dec. 14 as a result of multiple stab wounds. The time between their injuries and deaths was listed as “minutes.”
Rob Reiner was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m., with his marital status recorded as married, according to the New York Post. Michele Reiner was pronounced dead one minute later at 3:46 p.m., and her marital status was listed as widowed.
The couple’s remains were returned to their family on Friday and have since been cremated. TMZ reports that they have been laid to rest at the home of their son, Jake Reiner.
A spokesperson for Jake Reiner and his sister, Romy Reiner, said details regarding a memorial service will be shared at a later time. In a previous statement, the siblings described their parents as their “best friends” and asked for privacy while urging the public to approach the situation with compassion and humanity.
Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is expected to enter a plea of insanity in connection with the killings, according to TMZ. Multiple media outlets have reported that he had been receiving treatment for schizophrenia prior to the incident.
