Video has emerged showing Nick Reiner casually buying a drink at a gas station just moments before police arrested him for allegedly murdering his famed director parents at their Los Angeles home, according to reports.
The 32-year-old appeared unnervingly calm while waiting to pay for a canned beverage inside a convenience store Sunday night, a clip obtained by ABC7 shows.
In the footage, Reiner wore jeans, a striped jacket, a baseball cap, and a red backpack as he reached into his pockets to pull out his wallet. The video was captured shortly before he surrendered to authorities on a Los Angeles street—about 15 miles from his parents’ Brentwood mansion, where Rob and Michele Reiner were allegedly killed.
Additional video obtained by The Post shows Reiner raising his arms in surrender as two police cars arrived at the scene around 9:15 p.m. Other patrol vehicles quickly followed, and officers exited their vehicles with guns drawn.
According to since-deleted photos shared by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Gang and Narcotics Unit, Reiner was pushed to the ground and handcuffed while lying on the pavement, still wearing the same outfit from the convenience store.
Earlier footage also shows Reiner walking calmly past a gas station just before midnight Saturday, hours before his parents were found dead early Sunday morning. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Rob and Michele Reiner had been deceased for hours by the time their daughter, Romy, discovered them, with rigor mortis already setting in.
Reiner is being held without bail and was reportedly placed on suicide watch following his arrest. He faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his parents.
