Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has begun making arrests in the Minneapolis area, home to one of the largest Somali communities in the United States.
During a recent press conference, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara warned residents that individuals detaining people while masked could be involved in criminal activity and advised the community to call 911 if they encounter law enforcement activity they do not recognize.
Somalian in Minnesota recorded apartment manager allowing ICE to come into the building.

A video that circulated on social media Saturday showed residents reacting with fear as ICE agents entered an apartment building. Some residents shouted at the agents, questioning why they were being allowed inside and expressing concern about possible arrests.
“I’ve lived here 27 years,” one man said. “They’re letting ICE in to arrest us?” He continued to voice his frustration, asking, “We are Muslim, is that the problem?”
ICE’s enforcement actions are focused on individuals suspected of being in the country illegally, and agents do not target people based on religion.
