Socialist LA City Council Member Who Makes $240K Per Year Overseeing Area With Drug Infested Public Park Skips Meeting With Angry Residents
Eunisses Hernandez – Screencap of YouTube video.
Eunisses Hernandez, a socialist city council member in Los Angeles, earns nearly a quarter of a million dollars a year — yet one of the public parks at the center of her district has become overrun with crime and open-air drug use.
Recently, frustrated residents packed a public meeting to raise their concerns, only to find Hernandez absent.
For New Yorkers watching national politics, some see this as a cautionary glimpse of what could unfold in their own cities.
The New York Post reports: Meet the socialist LA leader making $240K to reign over drug-infested park as it crumbles.
$240K salary, collapsing park, open‑air drug den. Socialism in LA means elites cash in while communities crumble. https://t.co/gvWlI2p0SF

Hernandez, a progressive councilwoman with generous pay and benefits, presides over MacArthur Park, a historic hub in her district that has now become a haven for fentanyl use, open drug sales, and public paraphernalia distribution.
During a week-long reporting visit, The Post documented drug use, pipe smoking, hand-to-hand deals, and even city-funded items like needles, crack pipes, and food handouts being distributed in plain sight.
Despite earning $240,000 a year, Hernandez skipped a heavily attended public meeting meant to address these problems. Residents, parents, and local small business owners showed up to express their frustrations — but the council member did not.
@cd1losangeles term in office has been a disaster as her district has sunk further into decline during her term. She should be studied in civics classes as an example of what grifting off tax payers looks like. https://t.co/YxEur7ctSl

$240K a year to supervise public overdoses.
LA calls that “leadership.” https://t.co/2CGs9bIIKW

“I need to introduce someone to you,” challenger Maria “Lou” Calanche told the crowd, holding up a life-size cardboard cutout of Hernandez. “This is our current council member — who’s MIA.” The crowd laughed.
Critics say Hernandez’s absence highlights a growing disconnect between her office and the residents she represents.
That’s how socialism works in the real world. Well connected, but incompetent socialists get paid massive amounts of money while everything they touch crumbles.
