Florida man ‘teleports’ into stolen BMW—then crashes at 100+ mph in Volusia County, witnesses say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A stolen BMW ended up wrecked yesterday after its alleged thief claimed he “teleported” into the vehicle.
Witnesses reported the car was traveling at more than 100 mph before crashing.
The suspect, 36-year-old Calvin Curtis Johnson, is currently hospitalized and faces charges of grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license. Johnson told deputies he didn’t steal the car, but instead “teleported” into it.
The incident occurred while the car’s owner was walking his dog, leaving the vehicle unlocked with the keys inside a closed cupholder.
After the crash, bystanders helped remove Johnson from the car and called deputies about his dangerously high speed.
Johnson is expected to be transferred to the Volusia County Branch Jail once he completes his hospital treatment.
