JD Vance savagely claps back at trolls claiming photo shows him yelling at wife Usha inside restaurant
Vice President JD Vance brushed off online speculation this week after a photo circulating on social media appeared to show him in a tense moment with his wife, Usha Vance.
The undated, unverified image shows the vice president seated in a restaurant booth wearing a white T-shirt, looking stern across from his wife of ten years. Usha appears to be resting her head on her hand. Critics quickly seized on the image, suggesting — without evidence — that it pointed to marital discord.
The photo was widely shared after a Facebook user posted it on December 5, sparking sarcastic commentary and political jabs. Others questioned whether the image was even authentic, noting that it appeared possibly AI-generated.
Vance himself addressed the viral image on Tuesday with humor, posting a sharp response on X.
“I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife,” he wrote.
Speculation about the Vances’ marriage has surfaced intermittently since October, including online chatter following a public hug between the vice president and Erika Kirk, widow of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Additional rumors circulated after Usha Vance was photographed without her wedding ring at two events in November and December alongside First Lady Melania Trump.
An aide for the second lady dismissed the claims, explaining that Usha Vance, a busy mother, sometimes forgets to wear her ring due to everyday responsibilities.
Vance downplayed the gossip during an interview with NBC News last week, saying the couple “kind of get a kick out of it.”
