A Cinnabon employee in Wisconsin has been fired after a video showing her directing racial slurs and racist remarks at a Somali couple went viral over the weekend.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, shows the employee inside the Ashwaubenon Cinnabon engaging in a heated confrontation with the couple. During the exchange, the woman repeatedly uses the N-word, openly declares herself a racist, and smiles while making the statements.

“I am a racist, and you are a n—-r,” she says in the footage. “I am racist and I’ll say that to the whole entire world.”

As the couple filming warn her that such statements could have serious consequences, the employee responds by raising both middle fingers at them. At one point, the man recording tells her she will no longer be working there. She replies with an obscene gesture and verbal taunts.

The situation escalates further with profanity exchanged between both sides. According to the original social media post, the confrontation began after the employee allegedly mocked the female customer’s hijab when the couple entered the store to purchase food.

Cinnabon confirmed Saturday that it was aware of the incident and that the employee had been terminated by the franchise owner.

“We’ve seen the disturbing video from the Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, WI, and we do not condone this behavior,” the company said in a statement. “Their actions do not reflect our values or the welcoming experience every guest deserves.”

In the aftermath, fundraising efforts in support of the fired employee appeared online. A GiveSendGo campaign that reportedly raised thousands of dollars has since been taken down, while a GoFundMe page collected more than $1,000 from 27 donors.

The incident has drawn broader attention amid heightened racial tensions in parts of the Midwest, particularly involving Somali immigrant communities. Those tensions have intensified following recent comments by President Trump, who criticized Somali immigrants while discussing a large COVID-19 welfare fraud case.

During that discussion, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller blamed Somali immigrants for the fraud scheme, which totaled hundreds of millions of dollars.
