AR-15 allegedly found under Florida college student’s bed after he ordered 1,500 rounds of ammo to dorm
A Florida college student allegedly ordered 1,500 rounds of ammunition to his dorm room, where authorities later discovered a semi-automatic rifle hidden under his bed, according to police reports.
Constantine Demetriades, 21, was arrested Wednesday after Rollins College security in Winter Park flagged his large online ammunition purchase, according to charging documents obtained by WKMG.
When police arrived, they reportedly found an AR-15 rifle, six magazines—one loaded and five empty—a tactical vest, multiple knives, a black security vest, ear protection, and a pistol storage case. While Florida allows open carry, Rollins College prohibits weapons on campus, the school’s website states.

According to court documents, Demetriades admitted he knew the school’s weapons policy but brought the rifle to campus after purchasing and registering it in New Jersey over Thanksgiving break.
The student told authorities he “likes to shoot as a hobby” and claimed he had no ill intentions, usually storing the firearm at a friend’s off-campus residence. He also said he was unaware that his New Jersey concealed carry permit did not apply in Florida, WKMG reported.

Demetriades allegedly said he had only brought the gun to campus on one previous occasion. He faces charges for possession of a weapon on school property.
Rollins College is also investigating the senior, who has been barred from campus while the matter is resolved. In a statement, the school said:
“On Wednesday, the College received a report indicating a violation of our weapons policy. We immediately initiated an investigation, quickly identified and contacted the student, who cooperated fully with College officials and local law enforcement. The student was arrested and is not permitted on campus while the College proceeds with the student conduct process.”
