Video captures moment teens arrested after taking part in viral ‘door kick challenge’
A video shows the moment three teenagers were arrested for taking part in the viral “door kick challenge” in Florida, authorities said.
The teens were apprehended on November 23 after a St. Johns County homeowner called police, reporting someone “attempting to kick their door in,” according to the sheriff’s office. In audio released by authorities, the homeowner told an emergency operator, “My husband was going to open the door with our gun, but he did not … His weapon is, yeah, it’s in hand in case they come back.”

Police footage shows the teens—two 14-year-olds and one 13-year-old—dressed in dark clothing and gloves, hiding near the home. They were handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car.

An officer asked the teens, “You guys want to get shot by a homeowner when you’re kicking their door, and they think you’re breaking in to kill them?” One teen replied, “No sir.” The officer warned, “It’ll be justified, they don’t even go to prison, and you’re six feet under.”
Authorities said the teens were participating in the dangerous TikTok “door kick” challenge, which encourages people to kick front doors and flee before being caught. The stunt echoes a similar prank that tragically led to the fatal shooting of 11-year-old Julian Guzman in August by homeowner Gonzalo Leon Jr.

The teens were arrested on suspicion of loitering and prowling, and one was also charged with criminal mischief for damaging the door. The sheriff’s office emphasized, “This ‘challenge’ is not a harmless prank. Participating in this criminal act has serious and possibly life-changing consequences.”
