A former child actor best known for his role on the ’90s sitcom “Home Improvement” was arrested for the sixth time on Saturday after a volatile incident in Oregon involving his fiancé and their three young children.

Zachery Ty Bryan, 44, and his fiancé Johnnie Faye Cartwright, 32, were taken into custody by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office around midday near a popular camping area in Lowell, Oregon, according to officials. Investigators say the pair had been driving through the area in a pickup truck with their children when Bryan exited the vehicle during an argument and began walking down the roadway.

Authorities allege that Cartwright then attempted to run him over. Bryan managed to dive out of the way, and the truck veered into a ditch. No injuries were reported, but deputies said both adults showed signs of impairment when questioned.

Bryan was arrested for violating a court order tied to an earlier case and is being held without bail, though jail records indicate he is scheduled for release on Wednesday. In 2021, he pleaded guilty after allegations that he attempted to strangle Cartwright — a case he later claimed was exaggerated. Despite a no-contact agreement as part of that plea, the couple has since had three children together.

Cartwright was also arrested following further investigation. She faces charges including reckless driving, DUI, and three counts of reckless endangerment — two of which have since been dismissed, according to jail records. The children were placed in the care of a family member.

Bryan’s legal troubles have escalated in recent years. In October 2023, he pleaded guilty to felony assault involving an unnamed woman. He was arrested twice for DUI in 2024, and earlier this year he was arrested in South Carolina after another alleged domestic assault in which a woman told police they lived together and shared children.

Bryan also shares four children with his ex-wife, Carly Matros. The couple separated in 2020 after 13 years of marriage.

Bryan rose to fame playing Brad Taylor, the eldest son of Tim “The Toolman” Taylor, portrayed by Tim Allen, on Home Improvement. He did not take part in the show’s reunion event held in late September.
