President Trump said Sunday that he plans to release the results of an MRI he underwent in October. “If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” he told reporters while returning to Washington from Florida, adding that the scan results were “perfect.”
The White House has not specified why the MRI was included in last month’s physical exam or which area of the body was scanned. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said only that the president received “advanced imaging” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as part of his routine evaluation and that the results confirmed he remains in “exceptional physical health.”
Trump said Sunday that he has “no idea” which part of his body was scanned, emphasizing that it was simply “an MRI.” He noted it was not a brain scan, pointing out that he recently completed — and says he aced — a cognitive test.
His comments came after Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz publicly questioned the 79-year-old president’s physical stamina and cognitive sharpness. Walz criticized Trump’s Thanksgiving weekend remarks about him and Minnesota’s Somali community, saying that while most Americans were spending time with family, “This guy is apparently in a room ranting about everything else. This is not normal behavior. It’s not healthy.” Walz also suggested Trump is “fading physically” and raised concerns about his “mental capacity.” A reporter referenced Walz’s comments when asking Trump whether he would release the MRI results.
