A 58-year-old Maryland man is facing charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of 12-year-old carolers the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Anne Arundel County Police say Paul Susie has been charged with first- and second-degree assault along with several related offenses. The incident happened Saturday around 8:30 p.m., when three 12-year-old girls were going door to door in the 1700 block of Point No Point Drive in Annapolis, singing Christmas carols.

According to charging documents cited by WTOP, the girls walked onto Susie’s front stoop, knocked on his door, and announced they were caroling. Susie was inside at the time and, police say, pointed a firearm at them from a bay window. Officers arrived shortly after and took him into custody. Susie reportedly admitted to being involved and told authorities he had consumed at least one alcoholic drink.

Police noted that the front stoop was well-lit, making the children clearly visible. A .40-caliber Glock handgun, which Susie was licensed to carry, was recovered. He was additionally charged with possessing a handgun while under the influence.

Annapolis, the capital of Maryland, sits along the Chesapeake Bay and is about 30 miles east of Washington, D.C.
