DOJ Employee Arrested, Booked on Terrorism and Evidence Tampering Charges For Doxxing Federal Agent
A Department of Justice employee was arrested and charged with terrorism and evidence tampering after allegedly doxxing a federal agent during a law-enforcement operation in Brownsville, Texas.
Karen Olvera De Leon, who works for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brownsville, appeared on a livestream that captured a June 9 federal raid. During the stream, a man joined the chat and issued a death threat toward one of the agents involved in the operation.
According to investigators, another viewer of the livestream—later identified as Olvera De Leon—posted the federal agent’s identity in the chat, effectively doxxing him and providing that information to the individual making the threat.
KRGV reported that Olvera De Leon has been arraigned on charges of terrorism and tampering with or fabricating evidence. Cameron County jail records show she was booked on Thursday and later released on a $20,000 bond.

Authorities say the charges stem from the June 9 enforcement action, which bystanders recorded and broadcast on social media. The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office stated that Olvera De Leon was confirmed as the viewer who supplied the agent’s personal information during the threat.
The Department of Homeland Security condemned the incident and warned of the dangers posed to federal officers when their identities are exposed online.
“Our officers are facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them, and their families are being doxxed and threatened online,” DHS said last month. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin emphasized that ICE officers routinely face violent criminals and deserve basic safety and dignity. “The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop.”
DHS encourages the public to report any doxxing or harassment targeting ICE personnel by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or by submitting a tip through ICE’s online form.
