A Washington, DC-area radio show took a shocking turn when a caller casually revealed he had discovered human remains in Maryland—but hadn’t reported them to authorities.
Elliot Segal, host of “Elliot in the Morning,” began his Nov. 21 broadcast with his usual mix of news, sports, and musings about starting a turf business. The routine took a grisly twist when a mystery caller, identifying himself only as Joseph, phoned in to boast about his latest find.
Joseph claimed he had emailed photos of the remains to the show and described finding the body at a campsite near a former “tent city” in Frederick County, Maryland, roughly 18 days earlier, around Nov. 3.

“This may sound sick, but I’ve always wanted to come upon something like that,” Joseph said, adding that the body appeared months old. Segal was visibly horrified. “Tell me, Jesus Christ, tell me you called the police,” he implored.
“Probably today. I had a dream last night that I called ’em. So no, not yet,” Joseph admitted.
Segal urged him repeatedly to notify authorities immediately, but Joseph remained nonchalant. “I assume this guy died in the street, whether it was an overdose or froze to death,” he said. “Once you see the pictures, Elliot, you’ll understand why I believe it wasn’t important to report a month ago.”

After repeated pleas, Joseph finally promised the body would be reported “today” and said he would even accompany police to the site.
Frederick Police later confirmed that investigators discovered a corpse in a wooded area near East Street and Carroll Creek Crossing. ABC 7 News reported that the victim’s identification and cause of death have not yet been determined.
It remains unclear whether Joseph himself contacted authorities or if someone else reported the discovery.
