Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein once claimed that President Trump visited his Palm Beach mansion regularly, but according to Epstein, he never received a massage or participated in any illegal activity.

In a February 1, 2019, email to himself—months before his arrest on sex trafficking charges and subsequent death in jail—Epstein wrote, “Trump knew of it and came to my house many times during that period. He never got a massage.” The email, first reported by The Washington Post, did not clarify what “it” referred to. It was among roughly 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate released Wednesday by the House Oversight Committee.

In another 2019 email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein wrote of Trump, “of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop,” referencing Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell. It is unclear what, if anything, Trump knew regarding Epstein’s criminal activities.

Trump has acknowledged knowing Epstein socially in Palm Beach, attributing their falling-out in the mid-2000s to a real estate dispute and Epstein hiring Mar-a-Lago employees. In July 2019, when asked if he ever suspected Epstein of harming underage girls, Trump said, “I had no idea. I haven’t spoken to him in many, many years.”

Court documents unsealed in January show that Trump attended dinners at Epstein’s estate, while Prince Andrew reportedly received daily massages there. Epstein’s former butler, Juan Alessi, who worked at the home from 1991 to 2002, told lawyers that Trump would sometimes eat meals in the kitchen but never stayed overnight or received massages. “Because he’s got his own spa,” Alessi said.

On Wednesday, Trump criticized renewed attention on Epstein, calling it a political tactic. “There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!” he wrote.
