Actor Woody Harrelson is facing backlash after making disturbing remarks about President Trump, saying he’d “want to slip him some cyanide” if he were assigned to protect him as a Secret Service agent.

In footage circulating online, Harrelson reminisces about once dreaming of becoming a Secret Service agent before realizing that his inspiration came from a television character.

“I used to dream about being a Secret Service agent,” Harrelson said. “But then that passed when I realized the character I liked on television was just an actor playing a Secret Service agent.”

He then added, “Luckily, I didn’t become a Secret Service agent. I’d be having to protect Donald Trump right now — and that just wouldn’t sit well. I’d be wanting to slip him some cyanide instead of jumping in front of a bullet.”

The actor’s comments have drawn heavy criticism, especially given his past praise for current Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose presidential campaign he publicly supported.

Earlier this year, during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Harrelson lauded Kennedy for standing up to what he called “evil pharmaceutical companies.” “It’s really heroic how much he stood up for things that didn’t help him,” Harrelson said. “He just took one arrow after another over it.”

Harrelson also blasted Dr. Anthony Fauci, the disgraced former head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, calling him “a f—ing monster” who held “too much power for too long.”

Violence has long cast a shadow over Harrelson’s family history. His father, Charles Harrelson, was a convicted contract killer who spent the rest of his life behind bars before dying in prison in 2007.
