A tragic shooting in Orlando has left one teenager dead after what authorities say began as a minor hallway incident at Oak Ridge High School. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy was shot and killed by 15-year-old Jacori Redding after the two bumped into each other during the school day and Dalmacy allegedly did not apologize.

Sheriff John Mina said the confrontation quickly escalated, with the teens agreeing to meet for a fight later that day at a nearby basketball court. When they met, witnesses say Redding flashed gang signs before pulling a gun and shooting Dalmacy twice. First responders found Dalmacy with a gunshot wound to the head; he was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Redding—who already faced charges in an unrelated grand theft auto case and had a long record of school disciplinary issues—returned to campus after the shooting with the firearm still in his possession. He was taken into custody without incident.

During his court appearance, Redding appeared largely emotionless but turned to smile at his family as they spoke to him. Sheriff Mina condemned the violence, saying, “I’m really angry that something as small as bumping into someone in the halls of a high school has now turned into a deadly shooting of a 16-year-old.”

Investigators are still working to determine how Redding obtained the gun. School officials confirmed that Dalmacy had only recently enrolled in the Orange County Public Schools district. Redding is being held in juvenile detention without bond, with his next court hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
