Even the Teamsters Union is Calling on Democrats to End the Government Shutdown

You know things are going badly for Democrats when even the powerful Teamsters Union is urging them to end the government shutdown.
In a striking moment at the White House on Thursday, Teamsters President Sean O’Brien stood alongside Vice President JD Vance and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, calling on lawmakers—especially Senate Democrats—to immediately pass a clean continuing resolution (CR) to reopen the government.
The scene was remarkable: one of the nation’s largest labor unions publicly demanding action, flanked by two key members of President Trump’s administration.
“We took a position three weeks ago,” O’Brien said. “Pass a clean CR, get to the table, negotiate a deal. Do not put working people in the middle of a problem. They should not be in there.”
Democrats have lost America’s workers.

O’Brien warned that the ongoing shutdown is hurting working families across the country, particularly those in the aviation industry and other essential sectors.
“We have got to think about the families that are going to be affected,” he continued. “Think about when you have to tell your son or daughter they can’t play sports because you’re not getting paid. Think about when you can’t pay your mortgage. Think about when you can’t pay your tuition.”

The union leader urged Congress to stop the political gamesmanship and act swiftly.
“Put the politics aside, get to the table, negotiate a deal, pass a clean CR right now, and then figure out the problems moving forward,” he said. “Let’s not compromise the safety or livelihoods of working people. Pass a clean CR.”
While the remarks drew attention among labor groups and conservative media, most mainstream outlets—including CNN and MSNBC—largely ignored the event. Critics say it’s yet another example of how liberal networks routinely downplay stories that reflect poorly on Democrats or highlight cooperation with President Trump’s team.
