A North Carolina man with a staggering criminal history has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 51-year-old man during a motel robbery earlier this month.

Police say 32-year-old Ronnie Fewell shot and killed Ronald Neville on October 10 at a Motel 6 in Charlotte. Officers responding to the scene found Neville suffering from multiple gunshot wounds—he was pronounced dead moments later.

According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance footage captured Fewell and two other men forcing their way into Neville’s motel room. The suspects were inside only a few seconds before one of them fled with a backpack that he hadn’t been carrying before the break-in. Investigators say the stolen bag contained roughly $100 worth of items.

Fewell was charged with felony murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy. Authorities believe he was one of four individuals involved in Neville’s death. He is being held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Records reviewed by Fox News Digital reveal that Fewell has been arrested more than 40 times since 2012, facing charges including assault on a female, robbery, possession of cocaine, selling narcotics, resisting arrest, and multiple firearm offenses. Many of the charges were dismissed or resulted in minimal punishment, though Fewell has previously served time in prison for several convictions.

North Carolina Congressman Mark Harris expressed outrage on X, writing, “Another serial criminal who was walking free in Charlotte, NC, has just been arrested for the MURDER of a 51-year-old man. Absolutely disgusting.”

The case has reignited public frustration over repeat offenders cycling through the justice system without meaningful consequences — a failure critics say endangers innocent lives and undermines community safety.
