President Trump hinted Wednesday that a major breakthrough in Middle East peace talks could be near, after receiving a note from Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a roundtable event with conservative influencers at the White House.
According to reports, Rubio, standing at the back of the Blue Room, caught the president’s attention and handed him a handwritten note on official White House stationery. The message read: “You need to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.” The note also emphasized that negotiators were “very close” to finalizing a Gaza peace agreement, the Associated Press reported.
Cameras captured the exchange, and moments later, President Trump told attendees, “We’re very close to a deal in the Middle East.”

The development came as Trump’s top Middle East adviser, the prime minister of Qatar, and other senior officials were deep into a third day of negotiations between Israel and Hamas at an Egyptian resort — a clear sign that the parties were engaging on the toughest issues in an American-led plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
Earlier in the event, President Trump told reporters that he intended to travel to the Middle East “toward the end of the week,” visiting Egypt and possibly the Gaza Strip. He initially said he might depart Sunday but later corrected himself, saying the trip would likely begin Saturday evening.

As the roundtable continued, Rubio appeared visibly tense while the president took additional questions and engaged with influencers. Wrapping up the discussion, President Trump concluded: “We’re gonna get peace in the Middle East. That’s what we want to do.” He then left without further comment.
