Why It Matters
Concerns over President Donald Trump’s health resurfaced this week after video clips from a September 11 memorial ceremony showed what appeared to be a droop on one side of his face, sparking rumors and speculation online. At 79, Trump is the oldest person elected to the presidency—a factor that continues to fuel public scrutiny of his physical condition.

The White House confirmed earlier this year that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a circulatory condition where leg veins struggle to return blood to the heart. Photos from recent months have shown swelling in his ankles and visible bruising on his hands—sometimes concealed with makeup—but officials maintain there is no evidence of more serious complications such as deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease.

What Happened
The latest concerns arose during Trump’s appearance at the September 11 memorial service at the Pentagon. While seated at the event, some viewers noticed what looked like facial drooping—prompting online speculation about a possible stroke or neurological event.

These rumors followed a video Trump posted to Truth Social on September 10 in which he reacted to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Viewers pointed out visual glitches and unusual transitions in the clip, leading some to suggest it was generated by artificial intelligence. However, video experts later concluded the footage was simply stitched together from multiple takes and showed no evidence of AI manipulation.

Online Reactions Spark Debate
The drooping face rumors gained traction when policy analyst and independent journalist Adam Cochran posted a clip, writing, “At what point are we going to clue in to the President’s stroke?” He claimed Trump appeared unable to control the right side of his face during the ceremony.

Ben Meiselas of the MeidasTouch podcast echoed the sentiment, saying Trump “looked absolutely awful” and seemed confused or disoriented during the event.

Public Appearances Reassure Supporters
Despite the speculation, Trump made two high-profile appearances shortly after the Pentagon event that appeared to contradict the rumors.

On Thursday evening, he briefly spoke to reporters before boarding Marine One en route to a New York Yankees game in the Bronx. He appeared animated and spoke clearly.

The following morning, Trump was interviewed live on Fox and Friends, where he announced that the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing had been apprehended. During the extended interview, he spoke at length with no visible facial issues and appeared alert and in control.

Trump Responds to Health Rumors
When asked about the speculation surrounding his health, Trump brushed off the rumors and criticized what he saw as a double standard in media coverage.

“I didn’t see that,” he said when asked about online claims of his death during Labor Day weekend, which had circulated due to his light public schedule. “Last week, I did numerous press conferences—very successful. Then I didn’t do any for two days and they said there must be something wrong with him.”

He added, “Biden wouldn’t do them for months… and nobody ever said there was anything wrong with him, and we know he wasn’t in the greatest of shape.”
