Barack Obama Sparks Online Fury When He Expresses His Thoughts on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
Following the shocking assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, former President Barack Obama offered condolences to the Kirk family but also faced criticism online for what some see as hypocrisy given his past political rhetoric.
As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, Kirk was fatally shot during a public Q&A event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday. The incident occurred under a pop-up tent as Kirk addressed students. Video from the scene reportedly captured a single gunshot that struck Kirk in the neck.
In a statement released after the incident, Obama said:
“We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.”
“Michelle and I will pray for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”
While the statement called for unity and condemned political violence, some online critics pointed to Obama’s past remarks as potentially inflammatory. Social media users resurfaced old quotes such as, “Argue with their neighbors, get in their face,” and, “If they bring a knife, we bring a gun,” suggesting that such rhetoric contributed to a divisive political climate.
The incident has sparked renewed debate over the tone of political discourse in the U.S. and its potential consequences.
