Hidden camera filmed man attacking sleeping child, ‘suspending the victim in the air’ via chokehold
A 27-year-old Florida man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a young child while the boy slept, an incident authorities say was caught on hidden camera. Dominic Fisher was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse, according to court records reviewed by Law&Crime.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned the alleged attack, calling the video “beyond disturbing” and vowing to pursue the “harshest penalties possible.”
The sheriff’s office released a 29-second clip showing a man, identified as Fisher, entering a bedroom and placing a sleeping child in a chokehold. Authorities said the choking lasted several seconds.
Deputies responded to the home on August 26 after receiving a report of child abuse. According to a probable cause affidavit, a woman—presumably the child’s mother—told investigators she had installed a hidden camera in her son’s bedroom after he made vague complaints about not liking Fisher. That footage allegedly captured the early-morning attack around 2 a.m.
The boy appeared visibly upset during interviews and declined to fully discuss the incident, the affidavit noted. However, investigators observed bruising on his neck consistent with what was seen in the video. Footage reportedly showed Fisher lifting the child off the bed in a chokehold while the child flailed in distress.
The victim later told authorities that Fisher had also kicked him in the stomach and punched him in the neck the night before. A sibling of the victim confirmed the boy’s account.
Investigators seized the surveillance footage and camera as evidence. Fisher was questioned but chose to remain silent, invoking his legal rights.
Detectives concluded there was sufficient evidence—including video footage, physical injuries, and witness statements—to charge Fisher with aggravated child abuse.
