Rosie O’Donnell goes on conspiracy-filled rant claiming Minneapolis shooter was ‘MAGA’
Actress and former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell is facing criticism after she falsely described the Minneapolis Catholic school shooter as a “Republican, MAGA person, white supremacist” in a recent video shared on TikTok.
The shooter, identified as 29-year-old Robin Westman, left behind a manifesto and social media posts that contradict O’Donnell’s claims. Among the writings was a message scrawled on one of Westman’s rifle magazines reading “Kill Donald Trump.” Authorities also noted that Westman expressed nihilistic, racist, and anti-Semitic views, along with personal anguish over gender identity.
Law enforcement, national media, and independent fact-checkers have found no evidence linking Westman to the Republican Party, the MAGA movement, or white supremacist groups.
Despite this, O’Donnell continued her commentary, criticizing the National Rifle Association, expressing frustration over gun violence, and condemning former President Donald Trump and conservative institutions like The Heritage Foundation. “The NRA is a terrorist organization. And they have been for many years,” she said. “When is enough, enough America?”
She went on to speculate about Trump’s health and spiritual state, saying, “Whether physically, emotionally, spiritually — or all of them wrapped up into one — he’s not doing well. He wants to get into heaven. I find that comical.”
Westman, who legally changed his name from Robert to Robin at age 17, appeared to be struggling with gender identity issues, as reflected in his writings. His manifesto also included statements indicating long-term planning for the attack and disturbing sentiments, including the phrase “f—k those kids.”
His uncle, former Kentucky GOP Rep. Bob Heleringer, expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, telling The Post he wished he had died in place of the children.
O’Donnell also used her social media platform to promote a range of political views and theories, including accusations that Trump is preparing to impose martial law through Project 2025 and claims that Elon Musk manipulated the 2024 election results. She also suggested Vice President Kamala Harris was the “real winner” of that election.
O’Donnell, who has since moved to Ireland, said she left the U.S. out of concern over Trump’s return to power and what she believes his leadership in a second term might bring.
