Travis Kelce’s Dad Says Taylor Was ‘Maybe’ Getting a Bit ‘Antsy’
Travis Kelce’s father is sharing new details about his son’s recent engagement to pop superstar Taylor Swift. Ed Kelce told News 5 Cleveland that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed about two weeks ago, though the plan was initially to wait a bit longer.
“He was going to put it off until this week to make it a big, special event,” Ed said, noting that Swift may have been getting “a little antsy.” But both he and Swift’s father offered Travis similar advice: it didn’t have to be elaborate. “You could do it on the side of the road,” Ed told his son. “It’s special when you get down on one knee and ask.”
The proposal took place in a garden in Missouri. According to Ed, the couple was heading out for dinner when Travis suggested stopping for a glass of wine. “They got out there, and that’s when he asked her,” Ed recalled. “It was beautiful. They started FaceTiming me, their mother, and her parents right after to share the news.”
While Travis’s mom, Donna Kelce, hasn’t publicly commented on the engagement, she may have dropped a subtle hint on the red carpet Sunday when asked why her son seemed so happy. “I think his mind is settled,” she said. “I think he feels calm and like he’s on a mission. He knows exactly what he wants.”
The couple’s engagement announcement quickly went viral, with fans around the world celebrating the news.
