Young Woman From DC Reacts to Trump’s Clean-Up: ‘People Don’t Understand How Big of a Deal This is’ (VIDEO)
Just over a week into Donald Trump’s return to a position of influence in Washington, D.C., some local residents are noticing visible changes—particularly in areas long associated with crime, homelessness, and neglect.
A video circulating widely on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) features a young woman from Washington, D.C., expressing surprise and approval at how quickly improvements have been made, especially around Union Station. The woman, who remains unidentified, highlights how the area—once plagued by drug use, homelessness, and trash—has seen a dramatic transformation in a matter of weeks.
“President Trump has not even had control over Washington, D.C., for 30 days, and I have on my For You page video after video showing how clean and safe it is,” she says in the clip.
She specifically points out the cleanup of a notorious underpass near major highways such as I-95, I-395, or I-495, once known for makeshift encampments and unsanitary conditions. According to her, the area now appears drastically improved, which she describes as a significant achievement given its close proximity to the U.S. Capitol.
“People don’t understand how big of a deal this is,” she continues, adding that for years, locals avoided walking near Union Station—day or night—due to safety concerns. “People have been talking about cleaning this up for a decade… and [Trump] cleaned it all up?”
The video has sparked conversation online, with supporters arguing it’s an example of how effective leadership can bring rapid change, even in cities that have struggled for years with urban decay. Critics, however, continue to frame these moves as authoritarian, raising concerns about civil liberties and the treatment of vulnerable populations.
What’s clear is that the situation has caught the attention of many residents and social media users alike—highlighting a broader debate about governance, urban policy, and the pace of change in America’s cities.

People talked about cleaning this up for a decade. President Trump did it in weeks.
