The annual TNBD Superbowl Squares Game

As you may or may not know, we are a little under 3 weeks until the next Superbowl game will be played. And for the first time in Superbowl history, the Detroit Lions could actually be in the game. The News Beyond Detroit would like to announce at this time that IF the Detroit Lions make it to the big game this year, our Superbowl Squares will pay DOUBLE.

We’ve already been asked a couple of times if we are going to have our annual football squares this year, and we answered, “Well, duhhh”. But with much of the nation pulling for The Lions, we will feed into the frenzy by paying double what we’ve paid in the past 3 years.

For those of you who are new or never paid attention to our squares, we do not require any money to “buy” a square. We just have our community members pick a square for themselves. The money from our regular advertising, plus money from our COFFEE DONORS is used to pay out to the 4 winners of the squares. We’ve received record amounts of “coffee” this past 12 months, and our advertising revenue is healthy with lots of new people giving us higher traffic than ever. Let’s just hope The Lions win this weekend over the 49ers and “punch their ticket” to the big game 2 weeks later.

So everyone watch out for our “Squares Sheet” coming soon, and remember to sign up for a square. Again, it costs nothing. If we cannot fill all 100 squares, we will come up with ways of assigning empty squares to charities of your choice. That has always been fun to see what charitable organizations you guys have chosen. But this year, let’s get all 100 squares filled with your names. (if you win, you could still ask us to donate your winnings to the charity of your choice. This was a popular option last year, in case you don’t remember.)
