Sesame Street POLL
The earlier 70s Sesame Street episodes are as good as we remembered. They had a quirky sense of humor. Sesame Street was a surprisingly diverse place for the 80s, showing a multiethnic neighborhood where people got along. The animated interstitials were really funky, weird and interesting. You never knew what was going to come up.
It was fun and educational for children.
What the heck happened?
Are modern parents really so disconnected from the sensibility of the Sesame Street they grew up on that they don’t see what has happened here? Sesame Street was great precisely because it did not pander to children. It satisfied their curiosity in a mature way, yet still managed to engaged them.
Apparently this has not gone unnoticed. Frank Oz himself even appeared to agree.
